The General Committee's stand on extra boards and extra board employees is as follows. If you are on an extra board and you are called to work, regardless of the location to which you are being called, you are required to accept the call or lay off, the choice is yours. Now, that being said, it is acceptable for you to question the crew caller about the call if it is to a location your extra board does not protect as a primary source of supply.
1) verify that the primary source of supply is exhausted.
2) verify that the secondary source of supply is exhausted.
3) if being called for a CON or FOR position, explain to the caller that you are/are not qualified and request a pilot if you are not qualified. Make sure they understand you will not be performing any service upon arrival without a pilot and contact the appropriate yardmaster/manager prior to your arrival at the OD location.
